Smile

18 Aug

What’s this? Amazing! Za is blogging less than a week after her last post! What fun!

Yes, it’s quite amazing. It’s even more amazing that I’m doing it in the morning on a Wednesday. On a regular Wenesday I would be at school right now, working my butt off in maths. Oh so very fortunately I have the day off school today, and why? If you’re a friend or a regular follower of this blog you already know why – I’m getting my braces put on today.

I’m a bit excited about getting them , which is odd, I think. They’re ugly things you put on your teeth and have to spend hours looking after, but I’m still happy about getting them. My teeth aren’t awful but it will be nice to have them a bit better. I just hope they don’t hurt.

Apparently they don’t hurt at all until about an hour or two after you leave the orthodontist, and then they kill. My friend Anitsu couldn’t even eat a dumpling on the first day of hers because it hurt so much.

But I am prepared for what the braces bring me. It was my decision to get them and so I will put up with them. I’ll make friends with them slowly.

I’ve asked my friends what it’s like having braces and they’ve all told me different things. One of my best friends, Nards, says not to worry about anything and have fun. And to get blue ones. So we can be braces-buddies. So I will. My friend Jane says she fell asleep getting hers on and they don’t really hurt much. Shirali says they’re awful, I’m silly to get them and she’s never been in more pain. I hope Shirali’s wrong, personally. No offence, honey.

My favourite thing by far about having them is that my nanna is coming over and I get custard. YAY!!! My mum’s staying at home too, so that’ll be fun.

I’m off in about 20-25 minutes so I’ll save this post as a draft and come back when it’s all over and add in some pictures. I’m sure I’ll be fine and it will be boring. I’m very excited. Is that weird?

OK, back in about an hour or two.

~~~
Well.
That was weird.
I feel a little bit woozy, almost like the beginning of a migraine but not quite, and I’m quite shaky, I’m not sure why.
The experience wasn’t too terrible. The worst part was when I tasted my mouth after they put the brackets on – utterly disgustng. Felt like I was going to throw up. I gagged. Ick.
They pulled and pulled on my teeth when they were putting the bands on, which wasn’t painful but uncomfortable. It was funny when they were keeping my mouth open with this weird thing – I looked ridiculous. Mum laughed at me.
My mouth hasn’t started to hurt yet, thankfully. I wonder if the pain will be as bad as Shirali said. Mum’s making me tea, which is very sweet. It’ll get the icky taste of antiseptic and fluoride out of my mouth. And I need it to calm down.
I popped over to school afterwards and saw my friends – they said they were pretty. They’re just being nice. They don’t look horrendous but plain teeth are much nicer.
My mouth feels weird. I can’t smile properly, but I’ll get used to it.
Alright, I’m off to have a rest. Rest my head.
And I got blue! Aqua! Hooray!
